The PMRF Scheme is designed to support the very best talents in doctoral research in India with attractive fellowships. PMRF offers attractive fellowships as well as research grants to PhD scholars in India in the area of Science and Engineering.
The scheme was announced in the Budget 2018-19. The PMRF scheme is offered in all the IITs, IISERs, IISc Bangalore, and some of the top Central Universities/NITs that offer science and/or technology degrees.
The PMRF program offers two modes of entry, Direct and Lateral. Students join through the lateral entry mode within the first two years, and the direct entry mode within the first semester of their joining a regular PhD program.
