Mr. JIRO KARLO, 4th year PhD student under Prof. Surya Pratap Singh, Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering presented one oral paper and two posters at the “SPIE PHOTONICS WEST 2025” conference organised by the International Society for Optics and Photonics at Moscone Centre, San Francisco, USA.
He secured three prestigious travel grants from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (SERB), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Govt of India.
His presentation was based on his PhD work, which is focused on developing new methodologies and novel applications of Raman spectroscopy and imaging to monitor microbial metabolic pathways in a non-destructive manner.
Oral paper title: Vibrational tag coupled Raman imaging for visualizing biosynthesis pathways in action
Poster title: Advancing Raman spectroscopy-based metabolomics: lysis-free approach for monitoring nucleobase metabolism
Poster title: Extraction-free monitoring of single-cell microbial oil synthesis and turnover using Raman spectroscopy and imaging.
